Minor League Baseball programs for boys and girls may be operated within each division for younger players with less experience. The minor league may be players ages 5-11.
The GWMLL breaks up the Minor League into two Divisions:
Baseball Coach Pitch ages 5 -8
Baseball Kid Pitch ages 8-11
Our Coach Pitch program is designed to continue introducing the basic fundamentals of baseball. The focus is on fostering an interest in the game and developing basic skills through a fun, positive, and encouraging approach. The season is considered a success if kids are enthusiastic to sign up for baseball the following season.
Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this level of Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer application and passing a required national background check, parents may become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, local league board members and other volunteer positions within the league. Please note - the league does not provide equipment or promote sharing of equipment due to Covid-19 guidelines.
Baseball Glove - sized to fit your player - Glove Buying Guide
Baseball Bat - Must have the "USA" sticker show below - sized to fit your players - Baseball Bat Buying Guide
Batting Helmet - Sizing
Cleats: baseball style cleats sized to your player
Practice Clothes: Have your player wear clothes that they are comfortable in and that you don't mind getting dirty - for Pre-Season practices tennis shoes are ok - once games start we recommend investing in a pair of cleats
Uniforms:
During the Spring Season the GWMLL supplies a complete uniform that is yours to keep. Cap, Jersey, Baseball Pants, Belt or Socks (depending on pants style)
During the Fall Season the GWMLL supplies a only a Cap & Jersey also yours to keep. As the registration cost is roughly half of Spring, we rely on parents to supply baseball pants & socks for the Fall
DON'T FORGET! The most important thing that your player can bring is a good attitude and the desire to HAVE FUN!
Practice and Game schedules vary widely depending on what team and what division your player is in. In Baseball Coach Pitch we only play other teams in our home league at Rodes Park (which means that we don't inter-league with other surrounding leagues)
In general during the pre-season (the practice time before games start on opening day) you can plan on:
Practice | Day | Start Time |
---|---|---|
Practice 1 | Weekday | 5:30pm for 1.5 hours |
Practice 2 | Saturday | 9am to 4pm for 1 hour |
Once Games Start (after opening Day) you can plan on:
Event | Day | Start Time |
---|---|---|
Practice 1 | Weekday | 5:30pm for 1.5 hours |
Game 1 | Weekday |
5:30pm or 7pm for 1.5 hours |
Game 2 | Saturday | 9am to 2pm for 1.5 hours |
Coach Pitch Coaches & Parents:
In order to maximize field space and create more practice slots for Coach Pitch Teams we'd like to play TWO Coach Pitch Games per Game Night - one from 5:30 to 7pm and a second from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.
We want to make sure that 8:30pm is not too late for our Coach Pitch Players to be out so we created a poll that will allow you to tell us!
Please give us your opinion by picking your answer below.
Thanks for your participation in the GWMLL
